How it works
A plan, not a pen pal.
Most dating apps end at "we matched". DinnerDate starts there and doesn't stop until somebody has actually sat down.

Post the dinner
Choose a real, public venue, a date and a time. Say what the evening is — one-to-one or an open table — and how you handle the bill. Nothing is left vague.

People apply
Your dinner appears to people it actually suits. They see the plan before they apply, so you read intentions, not a grid of faces.

Pick one
Accepting closes the table. Both sides place a date bond, the booking locks in, and everyone else is told straight away rather than left waiting.

Meet at the table
You check in together at the venue. Your bond comes back, the chat opens, and the rest of the evening is nobody's business but yours.

Meeting a stranger for dinner is a real-world risk, and treating it as a feature request would be dishonest. These are not settings buried in a menu — several of them are simply required.
Emergency contacts, required
You cannot go on a first date without nominating someone who would notice. It is a condition of using the product, not an optional extra.
An SOS that reaches a person
One tap during a date raises an alert to the contacts you nominated, with a link they can open — no app, no account, no waiting for you to explain.
Check-in proves you're both there
Bonds are only released when both people confirm each other at the venue. It is what makes a no-show cost something, and what makes a date real.
We don't keep your movements
Safety monitoring during a date runs on your phone and reports a verdict — "still at the venue" or not — never a stream of coordinates. The one deliberate exception is an active SOS, and the Location & Geofence Policy says so plainly.
Public venues only
Dates happen at real, listed, public places. There is no flow anywhere in the product that sends you to someone's home for a first meeting.
Reports go to a human
Every report is reviewed by a trained reviewer against a written policy, with the decision logged. What we act on and how is set out in Reporting & Enforcement.
Date bonds
Skin in the game, not a booking fee.
The reason dinner plans collapse is that breaking one is free. A date bond is a small, refundable commitment both sides place when a date is confirmed.
You get it back by turning up
Check in at the venue and the bond returns to your balance in full. It is a deposit against a promise, and the promise is simply that you will be there.
Date Credits, not a payment rail
Bonds are held in Date Credits bought through the app store — a closed loop inside DinnerDate. We never see or store a card number. The Payment Terms and Refund & Deposit Policy spell out every case.
Date Credits are not money and cannot be cashed out. They are a prepaid in-app balance. Read the Refund & Deposit Policy before you buy any — it is written to be understood, not to be survived.
