Safety centre

What DinnerDate does, what you should do, and who to call when neither is enough.

If you are in immediate danger, stop reading and call emergency services. In India that is 112 from any phone. DinnerDate is not an emergency service and cannot intervene during a date. The numbers below can.

Before the date

Set it up so someone would notice.

Nominate emergency contacts

DinnerDate requires this before your first date. Pick someone who would actually pick up — and tell them you have listed them, so an alert is not the first they hear of it.

Keep it to the venue

Every DinnerDate takes place at a real, listed, public venue. If a match suggests moving somewhere private before you have met, that is a reason to stop, not to compromise.

Keep money in the app

Nobody legitimate asks a first date for a transfer, a gift card or a crypto payment. Requests like these are the single most common scam on dating platforms — report and block, do not negotiate.

Trust the pause

If the conversation feels rehearsed, rushed or too smooth, you are allowed to cancel a date for no reason at all. There is no social debt in the app and no penalty for changing your mind before it is confirmed.

During the date

What the app is doing while you eat.

Check-in

You confirm each other at the venue. This is what releases both date bonds, and it is why a no-show costs something here.

SOS

One tap alerts the contacts you nominated and gives them a link they can open without an account. Use it early — a false alarm costs nothing.

Monitoring without surveillance

Your phone checks whether you are still at the venue and sends a yes-or-no answer. Your coordinates stay on your device. An active SOS is the one, documented exception.

Safe check-out

Closing out a date confirms you left safely. If you do not, the people you nominated are the ones who find out.

Afterwards

Reporting is not a formality.

Every report is read by a trained reviewer against a written policy, and the decision is logged. Blocking is immediate and does not wait for a review.

Emergency numbers

India — national helplines

These work from any phone, anywhere in India, with or without DinnerDate. The app carries the full directory offline, including state-specific numbers.
