This policy explains what content Dinner Date moderates, how, and what actions may follow. It is read together with the Community Guidelines (the substantive rules), the Reporting & Enforcement Policy (how reports and penalties work), the Child Safety & CSAM Policy, and the AI Usage Disclosure. It describes current, actual capabilities and is deliberately conservative about what is automated. Independent legal review recommended before public launch.
1. Scope
We moderate user-generated content and conduct on Dinner Date, including: profile fields and photos, date invitations (posts), applications and negotiation messages, chat messages, reviews and feedback, reports, and any other content users submit. The rules that content is measured against are in the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
2. Our moderation model
Dinner Date currently operates a primarily reactive, human-review moderation model, supported by a set of automated preventive controls:
- User reporting (primary signal). Users report profiles, messages, and dates through the in-app
Report tool, and may attach evidence. Reports are the main way harmful content reaches us.
- Human review. Reported content and accounts are reviewed by a person, who can remove content, apply
limits, suspend, or ban.
- Automated preventive controls (not content-understanding AI): per-action rate limits that slow spam
and abuse, input validation, one-account controls, and duplicate/abuse heuristics. Matching and compatibility use rule-based logic, not opaque profiling. See the AI Usage Disclosure.
Honesty about limits: Dinner Date does not currently run automated image classification (e.g. NSFW/CSAI detection) or automated text classification on message content at scale; those are planned but not deployed. We do not pre-screen or guarantee review of all content before it appears. Do not rely on moderation to keep you safe — follow the Safety Guidelines.
3. Messages and privacy
Private messages are not monitored or read in the ordinary course. We access message content only when necessary — for example, to investigate a report, comply with law, prevent fraud, or protect someone’s safety. To make investigations and moderation possible, messages are retained for 90 days and then anonymised (the text is cleared while the thread structure remains); message rows are not hard- deleted, because moderation and reports may depend on them. Retention detail is in the Account Deletion & Data Retention Policy.
4. Prohibited content (summary)
Content that is removed on review includes, without limitation: CSAE/CSAM (see the Child Safety & CSAM Policy — highest priority), non-consensual sexual content, harassment and hate, threats and violence, sexual-services solicitation and trafficking, fraud and scams, spam and off-platform solicitation, illegal goods, doxxing, and impersonation. The full list is in the Community Guidelines.
5. Actions we may take
Depending on severity, history, and context, we may:
- remove or hide specific content;
- require edits (e.g. remove a non-compliant photo);
- limit or disable specific features (posting, messaging, discovery);
- issue a warning;
- temporarily suspend an account;
- permanently ban an account;
- apply deposit/credit consequences where a violation involves the date/bond system;
- preserve content and escalate to authorities where required by law.
Enforcement decisions, immediate-suspension triggers, and appeals are set out in the Reporting & Enforcement Policy.
6. Proportionality and context
We try to act proportionately — matching the response to the seriousness of the violation and the account’s history — while treating child safety, credible threats, and fraud as immediate-action categories. Automated preventive controls (like rate limits) apply uniformly and are not penalties.
7. Appeals
If your content was removed or your account was actioned, you may appeal as described in the Reporting & Enforcement Policy. Appeals are reviewed by a person where feasible. Some removals required by law (e.g. CSAM) are not reversible.
8. Legal and regulatory cooperation
We remove content and preserve evidence as required by Applicable Law and cooperate with lawful requests (see the Law Enforcement Request Policy). Where a jurisdiction requires a grievance officer, notice-and- action timelines, or transparency reporting (for example under India’s IT Rules, 2021), we will comply and publish the relevant contact before public launch.
9. Changes
We will update this policy as our moderation capabilities and legal obligations evolve, and will not overstate capabilities that are not live.
