This policy sets out how to report copyright infringement and how we respond. It is designed to align with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notice-and-takedown process and with India’s Copyright Act, 1957 and Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. It is read together with the Terms of Service (§60, §65–67) and the Intellectual Property Policy. Independent legal review recommended before public launch, and the designated agent’s details must be filled in.

1. Our approach

Dinner Date respects intellectual-property rights and expects users to do the same. We respond to valid notices of alleged copyright infringement by removing or disabling access to the material, and we terminate the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.

Send a written notice to support@pipchat.in (subject: “COPYRIGHT NOTICE”) including:

1. your physical or electronic signature; 2. identification of the copyrighted work you claim was infringed; 3. identification of the material you claim is infringing and where it is on Dinner Date (enough detail for us to locate it — e.g. the profile, message, or screen and any identifiers); 4. your contact details (name, address, phone, email); 5. a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law; 6. a statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and — under penalty of perjury — that you are the owner or authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.

Note: submitting a false or misbehaving notice may make you liable for damages. Report only genuine infringements. This process is for copyright; for other issues use the relevant policy (Community Guidelines, Reporting & Enforcement, Child Safety & CSAM).

3. What we do on receiving a valid notice

We will review the notice, and where it is valid, remove or disable access to the material and, where reasonably possible, notify the user who posted it, providing a copy of the notice.

4. Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to support@pipchat.in including:

1. your signature; 2. identification of the material and where it appeared before removal; 3. a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification; 4. your contact details and, where applicable, consent to jurisdiction as required by law.

Where the law provides, we may restore the material a set period after a valid counter-notice unless the complainant notifies us they have filed a court action.

5. Repeat infringers

We will, in appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, disable or terminate the accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers, consistent with the Terms of Service and Reporting & Enforcement Policy.

6. Designated contact

Copyright notices and counter-notices should be sent to legal@pipchat.in, addressed to:

Designated agent / Grievance OfficerVallabh Sakhare
Emaillegal@pipchat.in
Acknowledgementwithin 24 hours of receipt
Resolutionwithin 15 days of receipt

This satisfies the designated-contact requirement of India’s IT Rules, 2021.

Note on the U.S. DMCA. Formal registration of a designated agent with the U.S. Copyright Office is a prerequisite for the DMCA’s statutory safe harbour and has not yet been completed. Dinner Date operates from India and answers copyright notices at the address above regardless; the registration is a planned step, not a condition of us acting on a valid notice.

7. Changes

We may update this policy to reflect legal requirements and our processes.
