This policy explains the tracking and storage technologies Dinner Date uses. Dinner Date is primarily a native mobile app, which does not use browser cookies the way a website does; this policy is honest about that distinction. It is read together with the Privacy Policy. Independent legal review recommended before public launch.
1. Cookies vs. a mobile app
Traditional “cookies” are a website/browser technology. The Dinner Date mobile app does not rely on browser cookies for its core features. Instead, like most apps, it uses on-device storage and identifiers to function. Any Dinner Date website or in-app web views (for example, a payment or map page) may use cookies or similar technologies, and where they do, a cookie banner/notice will be provided where required by law.
2. Technologies the app uses
- Local/secure device storage — to keep you signed in (authentication tokens) and remember settings
and preferences. This is strictly necessary for the app to work.
- Push notification tokens — a device token (via Apple/Google/Expo push services) so we can send you
notifications you’ve enabled (matches, reminders, safety alerts).
- Device and app identifiers — such as app version, OS, and device model, used for security, fraud
prevention, compatibility, and diagnostics.
- Diagnostics and analytics — crash reports and usage/telemetry to keep the app reliable and improve
it. Where required by law, non-essential analytics are used only with your consent, and can be limited through your device’s privacy settings.
3. What we do NOT do
- We do not use third-party advertising cookies or run behavioural ad networks in the app.
- We do not sell your data or share it with data brokers for cross-site/cross-app advertising.
- We do not track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising.
4. Your controls
- Notifications: turn push notifications on/off in your device settings.
- Advertising identifier / tracking: use your device’s privacy controls (iOS App Tracking Transparency;
Android ad-ID reset/opt-out) — Dinner Date does not use these for advertising, but the controls remain yours.
- Location: managed via device location permission (see the Location & Geofence Policy).
- Analytics: where consent is required, you can decline or withdraw it; strictly-necessary storage
(like your login session) cannot be turned off without breaking the app.
5. Third parties
Some functions rely on third parties who may set their own cookies/identifiers within their surfaces — for example the app stores and entitlement provider (purchases), push providers (notifications), map/tile providers (maps), and the optional payment gateway’s checkout page. Their processing is governed by their own policies. See the Privacy Policy for the categories of providers we use.
6. Changes
If we add a website, ads, or new tracking technologies, we will update this policy and provide any consent mechanism required by Applicable Law before they operate.
